Spring break is just around the corner and if you’re looking for something to do with the family, the Vilar Performing Arts Center, located in the heart of Beaver Creek Village, has you covered! There are a number of upcoming events for the whole family to enjoy in a stunning, state-of-art 535-seat theater. The VPAC’s Spring line up consists of many different family-friendly performances ranging from Cirque du Soleil inspired productions to pet entertainment!
On Thursday, March 16, be mesmerized by athleticism and grace as Cirque Montage acrobats perform daring aerialist feats in an atmosphere of color and excitement. The performance features former artists of Cirque du Soleil’s Mystere, O, KA, and Wintuk which includes talented contortionists, jumpers and balancers. The show has been acclaimed as “mind boggling… that keeps the audience gasping” by Los Angeles Times. The remarkable entertainers even tend to throw in a little comedy into their shows that definitely ensures the theatrical performance will delight the whole family! Are you a fan of infectious rhythm and dance that will get your feet moving? Rhythmic Circus has just the show for you with its hard-hitting percussive dance and choreography. The three guy and gal group will perform FEET DON’T FAIL ME NOW!, a dynamic tap and music production combining the sound of rock and soul with powerful vocal lines and tap breakdowns. The “human beatbox,” Aaron “Heatbox” Heaton, will also put on a show with his vocal percussions that will get an audience of all ages moving to the beat. On Saturday, March 25, be ready for a mix of culture and exciting dance innovation with Complexions. Founded by two of the greatest virtuosos ever to emerge from Ailey land, Desmond Richardson and Dwight Rhoden, this contemporary ballet group combines power and passion to create an entirely new and exciting vision of human movement. Complexions removes the boundaries of dance that allows for continuous evolvement and unforgettable performances. Dance Magazine says Complexions Contemporary Ballet makes it “sensationally, jawdroppingly clear that we live in the age of the super dancer, at a time when technical virtuosity is being redefined as an expressive state.” The show will display the group’s creative vision in their dance with a combination of styles ranging from ballet to hip-hop. Get ready animal lovers! The VPAC has a great show in their family winter series that you are going to enjoy. Johnny Peers and the Muttville Comix will be performing at the VPAC Thursday, March 30 and Friday, March 31! Johnny, along with his very talented dog crew, which includes the world’s only skateboarding Basset Hound, a ladder climbing Fox Terrier and a Border Collie named Willy who only answers to “Sir” will bring out a smile in guests of all ages. These are only a few of the gifted bunch of dogs who are mostly rescues from shelters or pounds. Johnny Peers and the Muttville Comix have appeared on David Letterman, at Disneyland, and even The White House, among others.
